CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City, Laguna – A man subjected in a search warrant was successfully apprehended by authorities following the discovery of arms cache inside his residence in the municipality of Ibaan, Batangas on Sunday.
In a report to Police Col. Rex Arvin Malimban, the Provincial Police Office Director, Police Major Rix Villareal, Chief of the Regional Intelligence Unit, led an assault team and stormed the house of suspected gun runner Florante Gupit Rocio alias “Popong” in Barangay Pangao around 10:30 a.m.
But his brother Eleazar Gupit Rocio, included in the target, escapes during the operation.
Hon. Shy Marie Sandoval, Acting Presiding Judge of the Municipal Trial Court (MTC) of Ibaan, Batangas issued Warrants against the Rocio brothers in violation of Republic Act 10591 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Following the raid, authorities have recovered an arms cache of various high powered fire arms includes two M-16 armalite rifles, one US Carbine cal 30 M2 and four Colt caliber 45 pistols with different ammunitions.
