Duterte will return to Manila after visiting Rolly-hit areas in Bicol

THERE’S nothing definite insofar as the President Rodrigo Duterte’s return to Malacañang, says his presidential spokesperson Harry Roque who hinted on the possibility that the President may deliver a public address if he won’t still be able to fly back to Manila.

Interestingly, his long-time aide, now Senator Bong Go sees it the other way around. According to Go, Duterte will visit heavily-hit areas by super typhoon Rolly.

“Ayaw po ni Pangulo na makaistorbo sa mga government workers natin, armed forces sa kanilang recovery operation so pupunta po siya soon sa mga hardest hit area nang siya lang po,” said Go.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Go said that the President will visit Legazpi, Albay.

The strongest typhoon of the year made the second of its four landfalls over neighboring Tiwi, Albay early Sunday. After visiting Albay, Go said the President will preside over a scheduled meeting among Cabinet officials.

Cabinet officials on Sunday held a briefing without the President, whom Roque said hinted as monitoring the situation from his hometown in Davao City.

Go added that the President “is in fact working “24/7” to ensure that government agencies are ready for the disaster. “Hindi ibig sabihin nasa Mindanao po ang Pangulo e hindi siya nagtatrabaho,” he said.
