SSS assures uninterrupted online services for OFWs in Middle East amid tensions

The Social Security System (SSS) on Thursday assured its members in the Middle East that they can continue to access benefits and services through its digital platforms despite escalating regional conflicts.

SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph M. de Claro said the My.SSS Portal remains reliable, allowing Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to file benefit claims and apply for loans without disruption, provided they meet the required qualifications.

He noted that OFWs who were involuntarily separated from employment may avail of unemployment benefits, subject to compliance with eligibility requirements and certification from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

“Even in these challenging times, our digital infrastructure ensures seamless service delivery,” de Claro said. “Members in the Middle East need not worry, as they can safely manage their accounts anywhere with internet access.”

De Claro also highlighted that SSS pensioners in the region can complete their Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (ACOP) through the Facial Authentication feature available on the SSS website.

He explained that the ACOP Facial Authentication with Liveness Check enables secure identity verification using smartphones, reducing fraud risks and eliminating the need for physical travel amid the current security situation.

“These tools were designed to empower OFWs, allowing them to transact whenever and wherever, even in crisis situations,” he added.

As of December 2025, a total of 1,476,645 OFWs are covered by SSS, with 540,018 classified as active paying members.

“We remain committed to supporting our OFWs through innovation and resilience, no matter the circumstances,” de Claro said.
