PCG receives 15 survivors, two deceased crew members of M/V Devon Bay from CCG

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) received 15 surviving Filipino crew members and the remains of two others from the M/V Devon Bay following a turnover operation with the China Coast Guard (CCG) conducted about 168 nautical miles west of Tambobong, Pangasinan.

The transfer was carried out using rigid-hull inflatable boats from both coast guard vessels amid rough sea conditions in the area.

The two recovered bodies will undergo proper disposition in coordination with concerned authorities and the victims’ families.

PCG spokesperson Capt. Noemie Cayabyab said the Coast Guard expressed its appreciation to the CCG for its humanitarian assistance and cooperation in ensuring the safety of life at sea.

She added that BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701) is scheduled to arrive at Pier 13, Port Area, Manila in the early morning of January 26.

As of press time, BRP Cape San Agustin (MRRV-4408) and a PCG Islander aircraft remain deployed and continue search and rescue operations for the four remaining missing Filipino crew members in the reported distressed area.
