The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has announced the possibility of one to two tropical cyclones entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this December.
In a weather forecast issued at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Pagasa weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda urged the public to prepare for potential storms that could affect the country during the holiday season.
“One to two storms may enter our area of responsibility, with a significant chance of making landfall or impacting land,” Jorda said in Filipino.
She clarified, however, that no low-pressure area or tropical cyclone is currently being monitored for the next three to five days.
“Even during the Christmas or vacation season, let’s stay updated and alert. Preparedness and vigilance are crucial should a tropical cyclone or typhoon develop,” Jorda emphasized.
Pagasa noted that the Philippines has recorded six tropical cyclones since October: Kristine (international name: Trami), Leon (Kong-rey), Marce (Yinxing), Nika (Toraji), Ofel (Usagi), and Pepito (Man-yi).
As the holiday season approaches, Pagasa continues to remind the public to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions.
