Quezon City hosts 2nd ADAC summit in celebration of Drug Abuse Prevention Month

QUEZON City Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, who co-chairs the Quezon City Anti-Drug Abuse Advisory Council (ADAC) alongside Mayor Joy Belmonte, led the 2nd ADAC Summit in honor of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Month.

The summit was held under the theme “Towards a Better Treatment and Management of Substance Use Disorders and Co-Occurring Mental Health Disorders.”

The event brought together key figures in the fight against drug abuse, including Usec Earl P. Saavedra, Executive Director of the Dangerous Drugs Board, Assistant Secretary Renato Amador Gumban, Deputy Director-General for Operations of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and Mr. Daniele Marchesi, UNODC Philippines Country Manager.

During the event, Vice Mayor Sotto, along with Assistant City Administrator Alberto Kimpo, awarded a Plaque of Appreciation to Former Senator Vicente Sotto III, in recognition of his pivotal role as the founder of the Quezon City Anti-Drug Council.

The summit underscored the city’s continued commitment to addressing substance use and mental health disorders, with discussions focused on improving treatment and management strategies for affected individuals.
