GMA7 continues to receive the most trusted media source (Table 1) in Pahayag Quarter 1 (PQ1-23) survey, released last 23 March.
This is followed by CNN Philippines (43%) and Philippine Daily Inquirer (38%) which entered the top 3.
ABS-CBN Online (37%), Manila Bulletin (36%), Philippine Star (36%), and TV5/InterAksyon (33%) also received above thirty percent (30%) ratings. Most news outlets maintained a stable rating except CNN Philippines which has a 3% decline compared to Pahayag 2022 End of the Year (P-EOY 2022)
Meanwhile, Social Media and streaming platforms remain the most used daily news source of 5 in 10 Filipinos due to its mobile format (Table 2). As to frequency of engaging on media-related activities, Print received 78%, TV got 77%, and radio had 61%.
While most maintain a stable rating, there is a 3% decline in TV as a daily news source compared to P-EOY 2022.
Facebook and YouTube are still the most used media platforms for daily news in the Philippines followed by Netflix (71%), Instagram (71), and TikTok (71%) which all tied for third place.
PQ1-23 is an independent and non-commissioned survey conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia Inc. between 2-6 March 2023.
It is a nationwide purposive sampling survey comprised of 1,500 respondents randomly drawn from the market research panel of over 200,000 Filipinos maintained by the Singapore office of PureSpectrum, a US-based panel marketplace with multinational presence.
The sample was restricted to registered Filipino voters. Samples provided by PureSpectrum are not affiliated with any bias or political party.
