Surigao del Sur rocked by Magnitude 5.8 tremor

A MAGNITUDE 5.8 tremor jolted the town of Bayabas, Surigao de Sur Sunday evening, April 3, 2022.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded the tremor at around 6:24 pm with a distance of 75 kilometers from the said town.

The quake has a 1-kilometer depth and tectonic in origin.

Intensity 4 was felt in Bayabas, Cantilan and Tandag City, Surigao del Sur while Intensity III was recorded in Rosario and San Agustin in Agusan Del Sur.

If the basis are instrumental intensities, Intensity II was recorded in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte and Intensity I in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

Phivolcs does not expect any damage from the quake but aftershocks were already felt.
