THE Department of Health (DOH) logged only 2,730 new cases today, lower than yesterday’s 3,050, based on the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, February 14, 2022.
This is the lowest number of cases in a day recorded so far this year.
Overall, the number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 3,639,942 cases.
Active cases continued its slide with only 76,609 cases today from yesterday’s 81,394. Active cases are patients undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.
Recoveries from COVID-19 today, however, was up slightly to 7,456 cases from yesterday’s 5,811 count, pushing overall COVID-19 recoveries in the country to 3,508,239 cases.
In terms of deaths, a total of 164 died today from COVID-19 to increase the number of total deaths to 55,094 fatalities.
Positivity rate today, meanwhile, went down further to 10.7 percent from yesterday’s 11.7 percent with 28,620 people tested.
Also, 93.8 percent of the cases were mild and asymptomatic, the DOH bulletin noted.
A total of 68 duplicates were removed from the total case count, with 52 cases counted as recoveries.
Also, 121 cases tagged earlier as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.
All laboratories were operational on February 12, 2022, and two laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). According to data in the last 14 days, the two laboratories contribute, on average, 0.1 percent of samples tested and 0.1 percent of positive individuals.
The agency continues to remind the public not to become complacent and continue to be vigilant against the threat of COVID-19 and make it a habit to follow the minimum public health standards and to always wear face masks, and also face shields whenever necessary, maintain physical distancing and washing of hands. The DOH also reiterates that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
