A total of 231 diplomatic protests filed by the PHL against China — DFA

THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that the Philippines has already filed a total of 231 diplomatic protests against China.

The DFA said the more than 200 complaints filed against China began when President Rodrigo Duterte took office, starting from 2016 up to November 18, 2021.

According to DFA Assistant Secretary Ed Meñez, majority of the complaints were in response to actions by the Chinese against Philippine authorities in the West Philippine Sea.

The latest was the incident at the Ayungin Shoal wherein two supply boats of the Philippines were sprayed with water using water cannons by Chinese Coast Guard vessels.

The area is about 174 nautical miles from Puerto Princesa City in Palawan and is one of nine areas being occupied by Philippines troops at the West Philippine Sea.
