THE Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that over 67,000 police personnel have already been inoculated against the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said that the PNP has 67,498 or 30.47 percent fully vaccinated police personnel while 66,968 or 30.38 percent have already received their first dose of the vaccine. With this, there was only 87,040 or 39.29 percent police personnel who are not yet vaccinated as of August 11, 2021.
“With the arrival of more vaccines in the country, more police personnel will be fully vaccinated in the next few months,” Eleazar said.
As of Wednesday, another 77 PNP personnel have recovered from COVID-19 bringing the total of recoveries to 29,899.
A total of 114 new cases were also noted raising the active cases to 1,812 out of a total of 31,799.
Meanwhile, General Eleazar also announced the death of another police officer from Oriental Mindoro.
“The 88th fatality of the PNP is a 48-year-old Police Lieutenant Colonel who tested positive of COVID-19 last August 7 and immediately brought to a nearby hospital but the day after pronounced dead by his attending physician due to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome,” PGen. Eleazar said.
Reports also show that the said cop already received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine last July 23.
“I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of our police officer and assures them every assistance that they needed,” Eleazar added.
