THE Department of Health (DOH) recorded a total of 6,664 new COVID-19 cases today, higher than yesterday’s 5,479 total, according to the latest DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, July 26, 2021.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 1,555,396, with 55,140 listed as active cases or patients who are undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.
A total of 23 COVID-19 deaths registered today, compared to the high 93 cases recorded yesterday. Total number of COVID-19 fatalities is still at 27,247.
The DOH also logged 5,766 new recoveries from the COVID-19 disease today, which is slightly higher than the 5,573 number of recoveries recorded yesterday.
Currently, there are now 1,473,009 individuals listed as total recoveries.
Meanwhile, positivity rate is at 13.4 percent from 45,369 people who were tested.
Majority, or 94.7 percent of the cases, are mild and asymptomatic.
A total of 23 duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which nine were recoveries.
Aside from that, there were also 17 cases earlier tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.
One laboratory was operational on July 24, 2021 while eight laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the eight non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 2.3 percent of samples tested and 2.0 percent of positive individuals.
The DOH also continues to remind the public to strictly observe the Minimum Public Health Standards to ensure the safe recovery of our country. The moment any symptoms of COVID-19 are experienced, coordinate immediately with the BHERTs (Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams) or with the One COVID Referral Center.
The agency reiterates that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
