New COVID-19 cases sink to 4k level today; 14 labs failed to submit data

THE Department of Health (DOH) today reported that new COVID-19 cases sank to 4,479, which is lower than yesterday’s 5,604 total, according to the latest DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, June 29, 2021.

Also, the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country, which already breached the 1.4-million level, is now at 1,408,058, with 50,037 listed as active cases or patients who are currently being treated in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.

The DOH also logged 6,471 new recoveries from the COVID-19 disease today, which is slightly higher than the 6,154 recoveries recorded yesterday.

Currently, there are now 1,333,464 individuals listed as total recoveries.

A total of 101 cases were added to the list of COVID-19 deaths today, which is higher than the 84 cases recorded yesterday. This brings to 24,557 the total number of COVID-19 fatalities.

There were also 28 cases previously reported as recoveries and have been validated to be active cases and 75 cases earlier reported as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.

Also, nine duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which seven were recoveries.

Meanwhile, positivity rate is at 10.7 percent from 32,044 people who were tested.

Majority, or 94.8 percent of the cases, are mild and asymptomatic.

All laboratories were operational on June 27, 2021 while 14 laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the 14 non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 5.4 percent of samples tested and 6.5 percent of positive individuals.

The DOH continues to remind the public that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
