The Department of Health (DOH) today announced 7,174 additional new COVID-19 cases, thus bringing the overall total to 1,101,990 people infected with the deadly COVID-19 disease.
The total number of active cases, however, continue to experience a low trend, registering only 61,294 active cases, according to the DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin # 421 released today, May 9, 2021, its lowest since May 5, 2021 at 62,713 active cases, .
In terms of recoveries, 9,197 were recovered today to bring to 1,022,224 people who have recovered from the deadly disease from China.
However, there was a slight increase in the number of deaths today at 204 versus yesterday’s 170, for an 18,472 total COVID-19 fatalities.
According to the DOH, 33 duplicates were removed from the total case count, with 28 registered as recoveries and one death.
There were also 149 cases previously tagged as recoveries and were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
