QCPD reports major crime reduction in first five days of Acting PNP Chief Nartatez’s term

QUEZON CITY — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported a significant drop in major crimes following a series of intensified operations conducted from August 26 to 30, 2025, coinciding with the assumption of Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. as Acting Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Supported by Police Major General Anthony Aberin, Regional Director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), through the Able, Active, and Allied Program, QCPD under the leadership of Police Colonel Randy Glenn Silvio launched aggressive initiatives targeting illegal drugs, wanted persons, loose firearms, illegal gambling, and other crimes.

During the five-day period, QCPD carried out 36 anti-drug operations that led to the arrest of 42 suspects and the confiscation of shabu and marijuana worth about ₱437,350.

Authorities also arrested 44 wanted individuals, including 30 tagged as Most Wanted, while 20 anti-illegal gambling operations resulted in the arrest of 43 persons and the seizure of ₱20,601 in bet money.

Three operations against loose firearms yielded three arrests and the recovery of three guns. In total, 151 individuals were arrested, with records showing that 91 of them were repeat offenders.

Police also reported the swift resolution of a robbery-homicide case in Cubao, leading to the arrest of suspects identified as “James” and “Michael,” along with another accomplice charged with obstruction of justice. Several anti-carnapping and anti-fencing operations likewise led to multiple arrests and recovery of stolen motorcycles.

QCPD said these efforts resulted in a 42.86 percent reduction in the eight focus crimes, from 35 incidents during the same period in 2024 to only 20 this year. Significant declines were noted in murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft, and carnapping cases.

The District stressed its commitment to sustaining the momentum under the 7-Point Agenda of the Acting PNP Chief, pledging continued law enforcement, public safety, and community engagement in line with the vision of a “Bagong PNP sa Bagong Pilipinas.”
