Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc. (Prime Infra) has officially launched Prime Kalikasan: Greener Prime, Greater Future, a tree planting initiative aimed at reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. The program kicked off on September 5 and 6 with simultaneous activities at Prime Infra’s waste management facilities in Porac, Pampanga, and Barangay Binaliw, Cebu City.
The initiative, spearheaded by Prime Infra Foundation and its waste management arm Prime Waste Solutions (PWS), seeks to embed environmental sustainability into the company’s operations while creating a positive impact on local communities and ecosystems.
In Pampanga, the program saw the planting of around 700 Ylang-Ylang seedlings. The trees will eventually be used for bio-fencing, serving as natural protective barriers while contributing to cleaner air and improved biodiversity. Nearly 150 volunteers joined the activity, including students and faculty members from Planas High School and Planas Elementary School, residents of Katutubo Village, representatives from the local government of Porac, and employees of both Prime Infra Foundation and PWS.
Meanwhile, in Barangay Binaliw, Cebu City, workers from PWS Cebu planted 1,000 seedlings consisting of native and fruit-bearing trees such as Narra, Molave, Banana, Rambutan, Agdao, Mabolo, Ylang-Ylang, Mamalis, and Guyabano. These trees will not only serve as natural bio-fencing in the long run but will also provide ecological and community benefits, including improved air quality and food resources.
PWS, the waste management arm of Prime Infra, operates large-scale materials recovery facilities (MRFs) in Pampanga and Cebu. The company focuses on maximizing resource recovery through waste sorting, segregation, and recycling, in line with the principles of a circular economy. By integrating sustainability efforts like tree planting, PWS ensures that its waste management activities go beyond recovery and recycling to also include ecological restoration.
Prime Infra is focused on building critical infrastructure that addresses urgent sustainability priorities such as energy, access to clean water, and waste management. With a fast and lean management process, the company develops projects that are both economically vital and socially relevant, helping countries transition toward decarbonization, inclusive growth, and long-term resilience.
