Freeport Area of Bataan marks 16 years of growth and transformation

MARIVELES, BATAAN — The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) on Thursday marked the 16th anniversary of the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), highlighting more than a decade of steady growth, industrial expansion, and community development.

Established in 2009, the FAB has evolved from a manufacturing hub into a thriving economic and residential community, home to hundreds of enterprises and thousands of workers. AFAB officials said the milestone reflects the Freeport’s continued commitment to attract investments, create jobs, and uplift local livelihoods.

“From a growing industrial hub to an expanding community, the FAB’s success is built on the collective effort of its stakeholders,” the AFAB said in a statement. “We remain focused on developing a Freeport that sustains industries while improving the quality of life within and beyond its borders.”

Over the years, AFAB has pursued infrastructure upgrades, business process reforms, and sustainability initiatives aimed at making the Freeport more competitive and investor-friendly. These efforts, officials said, are part of a long-term vision to position Bataan as a major economic gateway in Central Luzon.

“Sixteen years on, the work continues with the same purpose that began it — to keep the FAB a place where progress is earned, shared, and sustained by the people who call it home,” the agency said.
