Eala lords it in London, wins fourth ITF title

FILIPINA teen tennis phenom Alex Eala waxed hot as she annexed her fourth International Tennis Federation (ITF) title by winning the W25 Roehampton final held in London, England.

The sixth-seeded Filipina wunderkind, ranked No. 250 in the world by the World Tennis Association (WTA), grabbed the title by defeating second-seeded and WTA world no. 166-ranked Arina Rodionova of Australia, 6-2, 6-3, in a match that lasted a little less than two hours.

On her way to the finals of the W25 Roehampton, she also bested two other tournament top seeds, namely top seed Priscilla Hon of Australia and third seed Arianne Hartono of the Netherlands in the quarterfinal and semifinal stages, respectively.

Eala earlier ruled the W25 Yecla tourney this year in Spain, the W15 Manacor also in Spain in 2021 and the W25 Chiang Rai in Thailand last year.
