Bus driver faces charges after multi-vehicle crash on Commonwealth avenue

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will file charges against a bus driver involved in a massive multi-vehicle collision that occurred at around 6:55 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2025, along Commonwealth Avenue corner Doña Carmen Avenue, Barangay Commonwealth.

According to the initial investigation of the District Traffic Enforcement Unit (DTEU) under PLTCOL Geoffrey Lim, a UD PKB212 bus driven by alias “Ronaldo,” 36, of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, rammed a Toyota Corolla sedan.

The impact triggered a chain-reaction crash involving several vehicles, motorcycles, and a construction site fence.

The collision damaged a Toyota Corolla, an Isuzu UV Express, a Golden Dragon modern jeepney, an Isuzu traditional jeepney, six unattended parked motorcycles, the tent structure of the Bureau of Animal Industry’s inspection site, and the perimeter fence of the MRT-7 Doña Carmen Station construction site.

Several passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital for treatment. Authorities said all vehicles involved suffered varying degrees of damage, with the total cost still being assessed.

Charges of Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Multiple Damage to Property and Multiple Physical Injuries are now being prepared against the bus driver.

QCPD DDDA/OIC, PCOL Randy Glenn Silvio, urged motorists to remain vigilant and exercise extreme caution when traversing Commonwealth Avenue, one of the busiest and widest roads in Metro Manila.
