Severe and critical COVID-19 patients now at over 1,000 — DOH

AROUND 1,055 COVID-19 patients, or about 16.1 percent of total COVID-19 admissions, that are currently in hospitals were considered severe and critical.

According to the National COVID-19 Case Bulletin released by the Department of Health (DOH) today, out of the total 3,138 ICU beds allotted for COVID-19 patients, 807 or 25.7 percent are currently occupied.

Meanwhile, 18.4 percent or 4,543 out of the 24,678 non-ICU COVID-19 beds are being used.

From March 1 up to today, March 7, the DOH said a total of 6,297 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the country.

Also, the average number of new cases daily for this week has reached 899, which is lower by 30 percent lower compared to the number of cases registered from February 22 to 28.

In terms of the number of new cases recorded, three or 0.05 percent of the new cases are currently severe or critical cases.

Also, 615 COVID-19 fatalities were recorded for the past week.

The DOH also reported that more than 63 million individuals or 70.76 percent of the target population are already vaccinated against COVID-19, while 10.5 million have already received their booster shots.
