Renewable energy is taking a stronger foothold in the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) as the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) partners with Tai Yang 1 Power Inc. for the construction of a 25-megawatt solar power facility inside the Freeport.
Set to rise on a 27-hectare property, the development will be among the largest renewable energy projects within FAB to date. Once operational, it will provide additional power to meet the Freeport’s growing energy demand and bolster AFAB’s shift toward sustainable and reliable energy sources.
AFAB Administrator and CEO Hussein Pangandaman emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Authority’s long-term goal of diversifying energy generation as it continues to attract new industries and investments.
Meanwhile, Tai Yang 1 Power Inc., led by President Vic O. Lacaya III, has already secured a business license from AFAB and is finalizing its registration as a FAB-registered enterprise, paving the way for site preparations and development.
The solar project is also listed under the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Green Energy Auction Program (GEA-4) with an accepted capacity offer of 16.5 megawatts, representing the portion of energy to be supplied to the national grid once operations commence.
Tai Yang 1 Power Inc. has been a consistent partner in AFAB’s sustainability efforts. It previously joined the solar roofing project within the Freeport’s industrial area under Citicore Solar Bataan, Inc., reinforcing AFAB’s vision of integrating clean and renewable energy systems into its expanding industrial and commercial infrastructure.
