Philippine Blu Boys Capture International Softball Title in Japan, Gear Up for SEA Games Gold

The Philippine national men’s softball team, known as the RP Blu Boys, made a resounding statement on the international stage by winning the championship at the International Exchange Men’s Softball Tournament in Higashikagawa City, Japan. The team’s dominant performance has been hailed as a strong indicator of their readiness for the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand.

Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) President Jean Henri Lhuillier praised the team for their determination, discipline, and teamwork throughout the tournament. The Blu Boys faced a competitive lineup of international squads, starting with a 2-2 draw against host team Kagawa. They quickly bounced back with a commanding 16-0 victory over Singapore’s Under-23 squad, showcasing their offensive firepower and strategic prowess.

The team continued its impressive run by shutting out Hong Kong 9-0, demonstrating a balanced combination of pitching strength and batting consistency. In the championship game, the Blu Boys sealed the title with a 2-0 victory over Himeji, proving their ability to perform under pressure and against top-level competition.

“This remarkable run is a testament to the Blu Boys’ dedication, discipline, and teamwork. It validates the countless hours of preparation we’ve invested and shows that the Philippines remains a powerhouse in Asian softball. I could not be prouder of how the team represented our country,” said Lhuillier.

The tournament in Japan also served as an intensive training platform for the team ahead of the SEA Games, where they aim to reclaim the gold medal. The Blu Boys had previously secured silver in the last SEA Games softball competition held in Clark, Pampanga, in 2019, and are determined to return to the top of the podium.

Lhuillier highlighted the value of the Japan stint, emphasizing the confidence it instills in the team ahead of tougher regional challenges. “The competition in Japan was a valuable test of our readiness, and the results speak for themselves. The challenges ahead are even greater, but this victory gives us confidence that we are on the right track. The Blu Boys are ready to bring the gold back home.”

With this latest triumph, the RP Blu Boys reinforce their position as one of Asia’s leading softball teams. Their performance in Japan not only boosts morale but also serves as a strong message to competitors across the region: the Philippines is fully prepared to dominate softball once again in the SEA Games.
