Nearly 3,000 Philippine Police officers sanctioned in 2024 amid internal reform efforts

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that close to 3,000 officers were penalized in 2024 for various on-duty violations, with 5,457 officers facing administrative charges across 3,751 cases.

Among those sanctioned, 1,112 were suspended, including high-ranking officials, while 903 were dismissed for offenses. Additional penalties included demotion, salary forfeiture, reprimands, and other disciplinary actions.

The PNP emphasized its commitment to internal reform through its Internal Disciplinary Mechanism, which combines preventive, punitive, and restorative measures to address misconduct and rehabilitate personnel.
