Mary Mediatrix Medical Center (Mediatrix) has officially signed a strategic partnership with Singapore-based Mount Elizabeth Hospital under the IHH Healthcare Medical Affiliate Program (MAP), marking a significant milestone in expanding access to advanced healthcare in southern Luzon.
The memorandum of agreement (MOA) outlines a collaborative framework for sharing medical expertise, implementing cutting-edge technologies, and streamlining patient referrals between the two institutions. As part of the agreement, Mary Mediatrix Medical Center staff will also gain access to specialized training programs at Mount Elizabeth and Gleneagles Hospitals in Singapore. This initiative is aimed at enhancing procedural skills, improving operational efficiency, and ultimately elevating patient care standards.
“This partnership elevates Mediatrix to international standards of practice, ensuring that patients from Batangas and the rest of Southern Luzon receive world-class care and improved health outcomes,” according to Christo Rey Taño, Corporate Affairs Director of Mary Mediatrix Medical Center.
The IHH Healthcare Medical Affiliate Program is a strategic initiative designed to encourage collaboration, innovation, and the adoption of best practices among partner hospitals across the region. The program emphasizes healthcare innovation, clinical education, leadership and management development, and performance benchmarking. Through continuous medical education (CME), conferences, seminars, and international exchange programs, MAP allows participating hospitals to leverage each other’s expertise to improve patient care.
Vincent Lai, IHH Healthcare Singapore Country Manager, emphasized the program’s vision, stating, ““I look forward to a successful partnership with the doctors in the Philippines to deliver a world-class level of treatment, bringing new hope to patients and their loved ones.”
Mary Mediatrix Medical Center, renowned for its excellence in cardiology, oncology, nephrology, and neurology, will strengthen its position as a premier referral center in the region through this partnership. Jose Ronaldo De Los Santos, President and CEO of Mary Mediatrix, highlighted the benefits for patients, “This tie-up with IHH allows for another avenue for referral for this hospital. It will give hope to patients that whatever is not available here in the Philippines, we can now access outside in Singapore with ease. It gives them peace of mind that in any disease that’s very advanced, they have a chance to get a second opinion from one of the best hospitals in the world.”
The partnership is poised to set a new benchmark for healthcare in southern Luzon, combining cross-border expertise, advanced technologies, and a shared commitment to patient-centered care. For patients, this collaboration means access to higher quality care at their local hospital. For medical professionals, it opens doors to international training, clinical exposure, and knowledge exchange, fostering professional growth and improving standards across the region.
