Enough buses assured during Undas — DOTr chief

THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) assured the riding public that they have already allotted sufficient number of buses that will ferry passengers to different cemeteries in the country during Undas.

DOT chief Jaime Bautista made the assurance during his inspection of the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) today, together with officials from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

He added that the LTFRB will continue to approve and issue special permits to bus companies.

The transport chief said the LTFRB has already coordinated with bus companies for the deployment of additional bus units in anticipation of the heavy influx of passengers at terminals, especially those going home to their home provinces to pay respects to their departed loved ones.

Ang LTFRB ay nakipagugnayan sa mga bus companies to see to it na makapag-mount ng mas maraming units [ng buses],” Bautista said.

Mas marami tayong bus na gagamitin ngayong Undas at BSKE,” he added.

LTFRB Officer-in-Charge Atty. Mercy Jane Paras-Leynes explained that at least 770 special permits were already issued to bus companies as early as October 20.

As early as October 20 we made sure that we have issued special permits. As of now, we have issued 770 special permits,” OIC Reynes said.

OIC Leynes added that the agency will also issue on the spot special permits at the PITX for additional deployment of buses.

Para masiguro natin na yung mga dini-dispatch nating bus ay authorized bumiyahe,” she explained. “Tuluy-tuloy lang tayo sa pag-issue ng special permits.
