Tanduay Especia Spiced Rum bags double gold, named Rum of the Year at 2025 Asia Spirits Ratings

TANDUAY Especia Spiced Rum has earned another major international distinction, taking home a Double Gold Medal at the 2025 Asia Spirits Ratings, one of the region’s most respected competitions for alcoholic beverages. The Filipino-made rum was also named Rum of the Year and Best Spirit of the Year by Value, underscoring its strong performance among global contenders.

“Every medal we receive is an honor not just for Tanduay but for the Philippines,” said Roy Kristoffer Sumang, Tanduay’s International Business Development Manager. “We share this recognition with our hardworking team whose dedication allows us to showcase Filipino craftsmanship to the world.”

Based in Hong Kong, the Asia Spirits Ratings evaluates entries based on quality, value for money, and packaging. A Double Gold is reserved for products that score between 96 and 100 points. Tanduay Especia Spiced Rum earned 96 points — the highest score of the competition — tying with Kenya’s Mara Gin for the top honor.

Judges praised the rum’s distinctive flavor profile, describing “gingerbread and biscotti aromas” that lead to “a layered palate of chocolate, almond, and nutmeg, finishing long with butterscotch and warm spice.”

Multiple Wins for Tanduay Portfolio

Tanduay’s strong showing extended beyond Especia Spiced Rum. Tanduay Asian Rum Gold, Double Rum, and 10-Year-Old Rum each received Silver Medals. Meanwhile, Embassy Whisky, Tanduay Overproof Rum, Tanduay Rhum Dark 5 Years, Asian Rum Silver, Tanduay 1854, and Tanduay Superior earned Bronze Medals.

“These medals inspire us to continue Tanduay’s winning legacy — honoring our tradition while pushing for constant innovation,” Sumang added.
