Around 33 employees of the Municipality of San Ildefonso in Bulacan have been tested positive for Coronavirus 2019 (Covid-19) after undergoing Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing.

According to a post of Mayor Carla Galvez-Tan on social media on Sunday, she said that thirty-three of the San Ildefonso local government employees reportedly tested positive for the virus after undergoing two tests.

The mayor ordered the municipal hall’s 268 employees to undergo an antigen test to ensure the safe and orderly service of the staff and the safety of those who come to the municipal hall.

The antigen test revealed 33 employees to be positive of the virus. To be sure of the results, the mayor told the employees to undergo RT-PCR swab testing, where the 33 employees also tested positive of COVID-19.

Tan said in her post that the 33 employees are now placed under 14-day isolation and monitoring while the rural health unit personnel of the town are now conducting contact tracing with people the employees had been in close contact with.

It can be recalled that Mayor Tan was tested positive of Covid-19 last March 16 and is now in stable condition while completing her isolation and quarantine procedure, according to Toni Rodriguez, Municipal Information Officer.

Rodriguez said that the municipal employees underwent mass testing on March 28 and 29 and the entire municipal hall was shut down on March 30 and 31, 2021 to give way to disinfection procedures.

She added that on Monday, work resumed under a skeleton workforce while strict compliance to standard health protocols were being implemented and observed.
