Prime Waste Solutions Cebu Ensures 24/7 Operations and Community Support After Typhoon Tino

Prime Waste Solutions (PWS) Cebu has continued to demonstrate its vital role in urban resilience and disaster response by maintaining full operational capacity during and after the onslaught of Typhoon Tino. Despite widespread disruptions across the region, the company kept its Binaliw waste management facility open 24/7, ensuring uninterrupted service to its key city government partners and extending critical support to affected communities.

Throughout the typhoon’s aftermath, PWS Cebu operated round-the-clock to receive debris from Cebu City and Mandaue City — two of its primary service areas. This seamless continuity allowed local governments to speed up their cleanup operations, restore order, and safeguard public health through proper waste disposal and sanitation. The facility’s ability to function nonstop was crucial in clearing large volumes of storm-related debris and enabling the normalization of essential city services.

Beyond its operational duties, PWS Cebu mounted extensive relief initiatives for communities hit hard by the typhoon. More than 2,700 families in Barangays Binaliw and Pit-os in Cebu City, as well as Barangay Panoypoy and other affected barangays in Consolacion, received aid from the company. Working alongside the Prime Infra Foundation and the Manila Water Foundation (MWF), PWS Cebu distributed grocery packs and five-gallon containers of drinking water to ensure that families had immediate access to essential supplies.

Relief distribution was carried out in close coordination with local barangay leaders to guarantee efficient and equitable delivery. Volunteers, including youth leaders, local residents, and employees from PWS Cebu and Prime Infra Foundation, played a significant role in facilitating the operations. Their involvement enabled the quick mobilization of resources and extended the reach of support across the affected areas.

Given the disruption to water access in the aftermath of the storm, PWS Cebu and MWF also provided water rationing services and refilled drinking water containers for households in Barangay Binaliw, one of the hardest-hit communities. As the host community of the company’s modern waste management facility, Binaliw has long benefited from PWS Cebu’s presence and continued commitment to local development. The facility itself is equipped with advanced waste segregation technology that maximizes resource recovery and supports sustainable waste management practices in the region.

PWS Cebu likewise extended financial assistance and relief goods to its own employees who were impacted by Typhoon Tino, reflecting its commitment to the welfare of its workforce.

PWS President Cara Peralta emphasized the importance of community-focused efforts during disaster recovery, “We continue to support our host and neighboring communities in any way we can. Effective cleanup and recovery require close coordination with local leaders, so that relief efforts reach those who need them most.”

Prime Infra, the infrastructure arm of Filipino businessman Enrique K. Razon Jr., continues to advance critical sustainability priorities across energy, water, and waste management. With sustainability at the core of its operations, and guided by fast and efficient management, Prime Infra aims to build infrastructure that not only accelerates decarbonization goals but also generates wide-reaching social and economic benefits.
