LGU stops issuing permits to public utility firms, sub-contractors

TAYTAY, Rizal — Responding to complaints from residents, the local government of Taytay has temporarily ceased to issue permits to service utility companies and its sub-contractors for their failure to respond to calls to address inconveniences arising from potholes left after digging roads, overlapping and entangled wires, and that of fallen posts.

In a statement posted in social media, Taytay Mayor Joric Gacula said that he has personally directed concerned local government department offices to cease from issuing any permit to public utility companies and their sub-contractors for its wanton disregard of the provisions for which permits to excavate or put up posts where power and communication lines are attached.

Gacula went as far as posting photos of fallen posts and abandoned excavation areas in the locality.

Pressed to provide details, Gacula cited a fallen post along L. Wood Street in Barangay San Isidro, even as he assailed what he aptly described as “snail-paced” response amid repeated requests coming from both the local folks and the LGU.
