PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte chose Police Lieutenant general Vicente Danao, Jr. as officer-in-charge of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The news was confirmed this afternoon by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año.
Danao replaces Police General Dionardo Carlos, who is slated to retire from the PNP starting May 8, 2022.
The retirement ceremony for PGen. Carlos is slated tomorrow.
Danao is the current Deputy Chief of Operations of the national police. He also became chief of the Directorial Staff, the former regional director of the National Capital Region Police Office and PNP Calabarzon.
The new PNP OIC is a product of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1991.
