“Be responsible in putting up political banners,” QC tells public, aspiring and incumbent public officials

EVEN before the official campaign season starts, the Quezon City government reminded its citizens and aspiring and incumbent public officials to act responsibly when putting up political banners and tarpaulins in the city.

As per City Ordinance No. SP-2021 S-2010, any political propaganda in QC must only be displayed or posted in common posting areas designated by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

The ordinance also prohibits any election materials to be posted on electrical (Meralco) posts, public utilities and facilities such as street signs, traffic lights, signal posts, bridges, and overpasses in the city.

Prohibited items include streamers, tarpaulins, tin plates, stickers, pamphlets, decals, printed notices, signboards, billboards, and other advertising paraphernalia.

Each barangay in Quezon City will have a Comelec-designated poster area wherein electric posts, trees, and government walls or buildings will not be affected.

Meanwhile, the poll body can also approve additional poster areas for public places such as plazas, markets, barangay centers, and related sites.
