Five of the 15-inmates who bolted from a detention facility inside Caloocan City police station were back in jail after surrendering to authorities on Friday.
The escapees were identified as Arnel Buccat, 19, Reymark Delos Reyes, 27, Mark Oliver Gamutia, 21, Aldwin Jhoe Espila, 25, and Reynaldo Bantiling, 35, both are facing illegal drug offenses.
According to Caloocan City Police Chief Police Col. Dario Menor, these make the number to 8 People Under Police Custodies (PUPC) who have been recaptured by local police since the jail break happened on October 21, Wednesday morning.
Authorities are still on the manhunt for the remaining detainees were Martin Mama, 46, Gerrymar Petilla, 21, Hudson Jeng, 42, Norbert Alvarez, 35, Jovel Toledo, Jr. 27, Raymond Balasa, 35 and Justine Tejeros, 22.
According to the authorities, the custodial facility is intended for inmates who already have a commitment from the Court to be transferred to the City Jail but because the inmates have COVID-19 symptoms they are subjected to be quarantined at the said facility.
Meanwhile, criminal and administrative charges will be filed against the two eerie cops who were on duty that time when the prisoners escaped. Both have been relieved of their posts.
