MORE than 3,000 police personnel will be deployed in the City of Manila for the May 9 national and local polls.

According to Manila Police District (MPD) Chief Police Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco, the presence of policemen will help ensure an orderly and safe conduct of elections on Mayo 9, particularly in the 87 polling centers in Manila.

But even if it’s still six days to go before the elections, PBGen. Francisco said MPD police are now roaming the streets of the city and doing their jobs.

Included are police personnel providing assistance and security with regard to the delivery or deployment of vote counting machines (VCMs) and ballot boxes in various polling centers in Manila.

As of now, the MPD has yet to register an area of concern and they are continuously coordinating with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the leadership of the Philippine National Police.

Aside from this, the MPD has not yet received any threats on security.
